about

After a brief hiatus to focus on main label release, Meeting Of The Minds is back with Vol. 9, featuring 4 new collaborations made with some very talented producers.

Starting off with "Tidal Waves" by me & Pixl, who I've known for many years and recently did a remix for on his EP for Love Love Records. I've been keeping tabs on him from when he sent me a tune he made called "Chimes" a few years ago, which never came out at the time (but is now available on his Bandcamp page). He's had some quality tunes out on AKO, Ruff Cutz, Deep Bass Nine & many more places, and when he sent me this tune to work on, it only felt right to get involved.

Next up is a tune I made with Kid Drama called "Ambien Sequence". I've known of his music since he was 1/2 of Instra:mental, alongside Boddika, making tunes like "Thugtronik" & "Watching You" with dBridge, to name a few. I was also familiar with his solo material, which was more on the newer drum & bass style, like his "Trife" EP on Metalheadz or his release with Om Unit on Apollo. But after I met him when I came down to a CNVX night at Peckham Audio (same venue as the Future Retro London nights) to see Basic Rhythm, he seemed quite keen on making some more jungle sounding stuff and wanted to do a collab with me, which I was quite excited for. We ended up finishing 2 collaborations, this one and another one that's coming out later as part of his "Nine Windows" project with DJ Trace.

Quartz is a producer who I've known since his remix of "Sonar", on the Forbidden Codes compilation on 117 from 2014, which I also had a tune on called "Something Unreal". He sent me some tunes that he'd been working on, that were more on a jungle tip than his usual style & also suggested working on a collab, which is what led to "Demolition".

When it comes to the breakbeat oriented side of drum & bass, Gremlinz is one of my favourite artists in this style. He's got so much quality music to his name spanning the past 15-20 years & I've seen him play multiple times in London at events like Rupture, Cylon & Renegade Hardware. He did a remix for Future Retro London of Turning Me On by Basic Rhythm on the first main label release & we've previously collaborated on a tune called "Haunta", which came out on Drum & Bass Arena in 2021. I thought it was only right to work on another tune with him, but for Meeting Of The Minds this time and "Switch The Patterns Up" is the end result.
