about

Hey everyone, big thanks to all that supported Vol. 1 & Vol. 2 of Meeting Of The Minds! Back again with Vol. 3, 4 new collaborations done with more of my favourite producers from the modern jungle scene.

Starting off with "The Roughneck Sound", a bleeps & bass meets dancehall/ragga vibes kinda tune I made with KeeZee, who runs a label out of Brighton called Broken Beats Recordings. I first met him a few years ago when me & the rest of the Green Bay Wax crew were booked to play at a night called Brighton Loves Jungle at a club called The Volks. He played a wicked vinyl set featuring some of his own tunes that night and since then, I've been keeping an eye out for him and when I got this collaboration series going, knew it would be a good opportunity to reach out to him.

Next track on Vol. 3 is "PTSD" by Kid Lib & me, which was actually meant to come out on Vol. 2 but took so long to finish that it missed the deadline! Kid Lib is without a doubt, in my top 3 of jungle producers of this generation & I've always been a huge supporter of his music & involved with him in his Green Bay Wax label. Most of my sets in the last few years have featured at least one tune by him & even though we speak on a daily basis and have done so for nearly a decade, this is only the 2nd collab we've ever actually finished together!

"Gemini Drome" was a tune I heard Phineus II showcasing in one of his YouTube videos (feel free to check out his Xtra Spice Mikey channel for more of his work) & I knew I had to get involved with him on it. I've been a big fan of his tunes for a long time & what I like about his music is that the sound of his tunes are unmistakeably him & they're so identifiable in the ideas he brings in, the lushness in his breakdowns and the ruffness of his style. I've always got a lot of time for new music he makes of all styles & flavours. Also, I want to send a big thanks to MC GQ & DJ Chef for their help clearing the sample.

Lastly, the tune me & Ontology made together called "Buckey" came from me having started a sampling session of a 90s film called We The Raggamuffin a few days before he sent his parts over to work on, hence the huge chunk of movie dialogue in the intro & throughout the tune. It took the track on a more darker & rolling kind of tip, slightly inspired by Dubtronix, I don't hear that many tunes these days that take the dark style down more ominous territory so felt like I could represent that in this tune.
